Grants & Incentives

Getting money back

We understand the importance of getting a return (money back) on your energy investment. McComish Group operates to the highest quality standards for renewable installations.

We keep up to date with all government funding, incentives and green deals that could help you save, as well as earn money.

Current energy saving and energy generating incentive schemes include:

Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI)

Our Biomass Boilers are RHI approved, meaning that if you choose to install one of our biomass boilers on your domestic or commercial property, you are potentially eligible to receive support from the government. RHI payments are calculated upon the amount of kWh produced by the system multiplied by the appropriate tariff. For more information on Biomass Boilers and RHI payments visit our Biomass Boilers section.

Feed In Tariffs

The following renewable electricity generating technologies are eligible for the UK Government’s Feed-in Tariff (FIT) scheme:

  • Solar PV
  • Wind turbine
  • Micro-CHP or micro-hydro

Introduced in April 2010, this scheme pays generators a tariff for each unit of electricity generated and an additional tariff for each unit of electricity exported to grid. The scheme is available to both businesses and householders.

Helps businesses generate a revenue stream from electricity generation. This means that you can get paid for generating energy and exporting it back to the grid. McComish will help you maximise your return on investment through feed-in tariff payments for your business.

Your home may also be eligible for the Feed in Tariff scheme and could generate savings and income of around £580 a year in Scotland. Homeowners with an Energy Performance certificate can apply for a Feed-In Tariff and get paid for the electricity generated and used.

To qualify for Feed in Tariffs, the installer and the products you use must both be certified under the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS). The tariffs you receive depend on both the eligibility date and, for solar PV, your property’s Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating.

The Green Deal

The Green Deal came into effect in January 2013 and helps you make energy-saving home improvements, such as:

  • Loft insulation
  • Wind turbine and solar panel technologies
  • Double, triple or secondary glazing
  • Draught proofing
  • Cavity wall insulation
  • External and internal solid wall insulation
  • High efficiency condensing boilers

The scheme lets you pay for some or all of the improvements over time on your electricity bill. Repayments will be no more than what a typical household should save in energy costs. To be eligible for a Green Deal you need to use a Green Deal provider.
